This blog is co-authored by Claire Birkenshaw and Mandy Pierlejewski. It focuses on the world of education and seeks to view this arena in creative and novel ways. The use of theory and the application of theoretical approaches to a familiar situation can “turn the world upside down” and present it in a completely new light. We have felt that at times, the process of thinking deeply and creatively within a research context can be like an altered state of consciousness, which led us to the title of the blog. We hope that our thoughts will stimulate you, giving you new perspectives on familiar worlds and perhaps the experience of an altered state of consciousness.
