Origins

It wasn’t really an academic discussion about Foucault. It was an academic discussion about something else. For reasons I cannot exactly remember, Foucault popped into the conversation and orbits shifted. I suggested Peppa Pig was a transmitter of some of Foucault’s thinking and exampled Peppa at the Dentist. Left field, right? Surprisingly, I wasn’t ushered out of the door. I could feel my thinking and discussion hope restoring. That’s how it started, thanks to Foucault gravity, and somehow, we have ended up here. We have no plan, other than we intend to write and share our thoughts, individually or collaboratively, whatever they may be. We have no audience in mind. We may achieve a modicum of success in the production of something. We may fail, too. All being well, we will produce something akin to Halberstam’s approach offered in the Queer Art of Failure by sharing our little thoughts that “seek to provoke, annoy, bother, irritate and amuse” (Halberstam, 2011, p.21).
